History

In 2003 The Early Treatment Centre Manager Al Newman, held the 1st CBI Health Canada Wide Food Drive. Over the years the food drive included raffles and bake sales. Al Newman's love for riding his Harley and passion to help families in need evolved into creating the Ride For Hunger event.

In 2009 Early Treatment Centre Manager Al Newman partnered with Gleaners Food bank, to hold the 1st Annual Ride for Hunger event. The event raised $800 with the registration of 75 motorcycles. The event was held at The Early Treatment Centre on Millennium Parkway in Belleville. Overall the Early Treatment Centre & Ride raised 4372 lbs of food and raised $4100.00. We had sunshine and it was a great start for our New Annual Event.

In 2010 Ride for Hunger was held on May 16th at the Belleville Market Square and had 220 bikes register. The ride took place at the Belleville Market Square. We also held a 50/50, Silent Auction and held a BBQ with Keep it Simple Coffee. The ride was one hour and left Market Square at Noon parading down Front Street and over to The County. Music was provided by Far side and The Lloyd Family. Later in the day the local CAVChapter stopped by for a special tribute to the fallen soldiers. The Quinte Photo Club joined the event and took a variety of pictures throughout the event. Quinte Roofing sponsored the event and Kevin thoroughly enjoyed being part of the day's activities. Many generous local merchants also donated items for our Silent Auction and Raffle.

Volunteers from both Gleaners Food Bank and The Early Treatment Centre made it all happen.

The 2010 Ride for Hunger and Early Treatment Centre Raffle and Food Drive collected 6500 lbs of food and $11,000.00.

Planning started immediately for the 2011 Ride For Hunger and with the help of Norm Clifton we created our new website: www.rideforhunger.ca.
