Supporting Regional Food Security

Gleaners Foodbank operates the region’s Food Redistribution Centre through our “Tri-County Warehouse,” efficiently supporting the collection, storage, and distribution of food for neighbouring food banks, community meal programs, and community partners working to alleviate hunger in our region.

In 2026, special funding received from Hastings County is supporting various improvements to our region’s food security system (including new physical infrastructure and modern digital systems) to improve access to food for individuals, families, and community partners across our region.

We also recognize and appreciate funding we’ve received in the past from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the John & Bernice Parrott Foundation, the Harold Ballard Foundation, Food Banks Canada, Feed Ontario, and other supportive partners helping to fund this important work. We have been able to purchase industrial fridges, freezers, industrial shelving, vehicles and other equipment to support the Quinte region. The purchase of these items enabled the Tri-County Warehouse to safely and efficiently manage donations for the region, and we are truly thankful for the generosity and support of our partners.

The Tri-County Warehouse receives local and corporate donations from across Canada through Food Banks Canada, the National Food Share System and Feed Ontario’s Snap Food Program. Donations are distributed equitably throughout the region. Several smaller food banks in our region are members of the Quinte Regional Food Share Shelter (QRFSS), and they visit our warehouse regularly for supplies that are crucial to operating their food bank in their rural communities.
