You probably know a food bank user.

The likelihood is high that you or someone you know has needed to visit their local food bank.

Last year in Ontario, over a half a million people visited a food bank.

In Belleville, almost 10,000 adults and over 5,500 children were in need of food services.

How can you help?

There are many ways that you can get involved and make a difference in your community.

  • Host a fundraising event
  • Donate on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis
  • Get involved in one or more of our signature events
  • Purchase an extra item each time you go to your local grocery store and place in the bin
  • Donate a hamper to feed a family

Every contribution, small or large, helps us reach out to those that need it most.

Why is the need so great?

We understand that sometimes at the end of the month there may be nothing left; we are here to support those that need help the most.

The cost of living including food, housing and basic needs continues to rise. When our clients earn only a minimum income or receive social assistance, food is purchased with whatever money is left after paying rent and bills. For some, that amount could be next to nothing.

Often, healthy food options such as fruit and vegetables are not being put in our clients shopping baskets as it is much more inexpensive to purchase boxed prepared food with little to no nutritional value. We try to ensure that our clients have options to choose from including fresh or frozen produce.

Be a Donation Host

Are you having an upcoming birthday, anniversary or wedding? Do you wish that, instead of gifts, you could help your community?

Consider hosting a Community Event.

We have many groups, couples and children that who want to take part in solving a community problem rather than receiving gifts for their celebrations.

  • If you have a child who does not need any more gifts for their birthday, you can ask their friends to bring a non-perishable food item instead.
  • Instead of anniversary or wedding gifts, ask your friends and families to bring a non-perishable food item. This not only helps your community and a cause that you care about, but also lets your friends and family members become involved as well.

We provide thank you cards, tax receipts, donation barrels and donation boxes and children’s certificates to make it a fun filled celebration. If you are thinking about being a donation host, please contact us or fill out the “host a fundraiser” form!
